Did you know that Antinori is making wine in Napa Valley? The Antinori wine business is one of the worlds oldest family businesses in existence, dating back to 1385. Naturally, Antinori has taken the long-term approach to their Napa Valley Estate. Located in Atlas Peak, high on a west-facing ridgeline, the Townsend property (formally known as Antica) was purchase by Piero Antinori in 1998. Following the purchase, they immediately cleared the property and planted Cabernet Sauvignon. 23 years later, the wine is hitting it stride with the release of the 2021 vintage.
James Suckling 96 Points: A perfumed and refined nose of cherries, raspberries and plums with some violets and mild spices. Medium to full body with fine, firm tannins which give structure to the intense mid-palate full of spices and wild currants. Layered and textured. Give it time. Try after 2026.
